Clinerion patient recruitment system found compliant with privacy directives
The system has been assessed by a third party exert who confirmed it is compliant with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the EU Data Protection Directive (95/46/EC).
According to the company, the system was built on the principle of “Privacy by Design.” As such, the PRS runs inside a hospital’s secure IT infrastructure no patient data leaves the hospital’s premises.
“Clinerion takes patient data very seriously. What we do with our partners, like hospital groups, is based on trust. For us, it is important that this trust also is built on documented facts," Ulf Claesson, CEO of Clinerion, told us.
"This new evaluation gives a guarantee of good practice for the way Clinerion interacts with patient data: allowing patient search and identification for clinical trials within the hospital infrastructure, while yet preserving inaccessibility of the identities of the patients.”
Earlier this year Clinerion announced a collaboration with eClinicalHealth under which the companies would offer their complimentary technologies jointly to hospitals and sponsor companies/CROs.
The International Clinical Trial Center Network (ICN) also adopted Clinerion’s system as its official service to help its member speed up trial startup.
