Clinical trial technologies launched at DIA 2010

Outsourcing-Pharma presents a round up of the clinical trial technologies unveiled this week at DIA 2010 in Washington, DC, US.

Medidata introduced new technologies at the show. Just before DIA began Medidata launched Rave Targeted SDV. This adds auditable and scalable partial source document verification (SDV) to Medidata Rave electronic data capture (EDC) and clinical data management (CDM).

During the show the eClinical firm introduced Medidata Balance and Medidata Grants Manager 3.0. Medidata Balance is a web-based, randomisation and trial supply management (RTSM) system which unifies with Medidata Rave. The company claims Balance saves time and money.

Finally, Medidata launched the latest version of its trial budgeting application, Grants Manager 3.0. The new version is offered as a web-based system and allows users to build budgets and benchmark them against Medidata’s PICAS database.

Qumas introduced an Enterprise Compliance Solution for Microsoft SharePoint 2010. The system covers all aspects of compliance content and process management.

The company expects a number of firms to make SharePoint 2000 “a cornerstone of their technology infrastructure”. Through its experience and relationship with Microsoft Qumas believes it can offer these clients “a rich, scalable compliance solution”.

Also launched at the show was the BioClinica Integrated Operations Platform (BIOP). This tool allows BioClinica to make data available through Microsoft Office and SharePoint. Mark Weinstein, CEO of BioClinica, said these platforms are the future of clinical data accessibility.

BioClinica has also incorporated Metrics Champion Consortium (MCC) clinical trial performance standards. Metrics covered include patient retention, site productivity and percentage subjects enrolled.

Datatrak introduced Safety Case Manager. This system collects individual cases safety report (ICSR) data and exports it for delivery to regulatory authorities. Datatrak has also expanded its industry standards library.

Tibco Software has launched Spotfire Clinical. Using Spotfire researchers can explore clinical data in a visual and interactive way, said Tibco. The company has also joined the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) Healthcare Link Interoperability Network (HLIN).
