"Across the Almac companies there is a need to ensure that we are continually investing in staff and facilities to maintain the excellent standards that our customers have come to expect of us," Donna Christopher, Global VP Operations, Almac Clinical Services, told Outsourcing-Pharma.com, adding that the company's activities in NC continue to grow and as such, it is "seeking to meet that additional demand."
As Christopher said, the central drive behind this growth is "further enhancing the offering we are able to make to our customers right across the drug development lifecycle."
At the company's North Carolina-based facility, this means "focuses on supporting clinical trials, covering the complete supply chain from blinding and packaging through to global distribution and consulting, as well as the interactive technology and service solutions to increase the quality and efficiency of the clinical trial process," she added.
Additionally, Almac's diagnostics business is providing personalized medicine services, and Christopher explained the investment will ensure space to handle larger order requirements, more staff to meet targets and deadlines, as well as an overall larger US footprint.
The next steps will be on-boarding new staff and acquiring the relevant new equipment.
