Singapore is the location for the first 'Drug Discovery Technology' event organised by IBC Life Sciences in the Asia-Pacific region.

Entitled 'Biomedical Research Applications in Drug Discovery Technology,' the show is aiming to tap into the strong growth of biomedical sciences in Asia-Pacific and has been designed to foster Pan-Asian scientific exchange among academic, government and industry research groups.

The event aims to provide a forum for biomedical companies from the US, Europe and Asia-Pacific to discuss partnerships, contract research opportunities, licensing arrangements and strategic alliances.

The Scientific Advisory Board includes Nigel Beeley, from Arena Pharmaceuticals, US, Kelvin Lam at Pfizer, Edison Liu, the executive director of the Genome Institute of Singapore, and Lorenz Mayr from Novartis Pharma.

The preliminary agenda includes two American Chemical Society short courses on organic chemistry and pharmacology, followed by a variety of partnering/business sessions.

The event will take place from 3-5 November 2003, at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.
