SC Biosciences is to be the exclusive distributor of sensitive tools for drug discovery with the announcement this week that it will distribute in vivo imaging technology in Japan for US company Xenogen corporation.
SC Biosciences will market and sell Xenogen's licensed products - that enables the detection of light from fluorescent or bioluminescent cells - to academic, biotechnology and pharmaceutical researchers in Japan.
Xenogen's imaging tools and technology includes the IVIS Imaging System (a sensitive camera that allows researchers to monitor and record cellular and genetic activity in real time) Living Image software, Bioware cells and microorganisms and LPTA animal models.
"SC Biosciences is a good fit as a distributor of Xenogen products," said Pamela R. Contag, president and co-CEO of Xenogen. "Their focus on biotechnology and drug discovery will provide a good channel for us to sell our innovative products in the Japanese market. This new distribution channel will enhance the success that these products have gained in the US and European markets."
SC Biosciences corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo - one of the largest trading companies in Japan.
