UK packaging giant Rexam, a major producer of pharmaceutical closures and one of the world's top five consumer packaging groups, has introduced a range of LDPE and foil laminate bags and drum liners manufactured in a cGMP compliant environment for use in packaging bulk drugs and active pharmaceutical ingredients.
"Pharmaceutical companies understand the importance of a robust, secure supply chain to ensure FDA compliance," said Nic Hunt, global pharma business director for Rexam Healthcare Flexibles.
In July last year, following several months of preparation and an assessement by the LRQA (Lloyds Register Quality Assurance) Rexam Medical Packaging in Winterbourne, UK achieved certification to the ISO 9001:2000 quality management system standard. Rexam Medical Packaging supplies sterilisable packaging materials destined for the medical, pharmaceutical and personal care markets.
At the time, Peter Wahsner, Rexam Medical Packaging's managing director commenting on the certification said : "It will give us a greater competitive edge and increased customer satisfaction as well as a better working environment and employee satisfaction."
Referring to the new range of LDPE and foil laminate bags, the company maintaned this week that all film extrusion and foil laminating of bag materials, as well as bag and pouch manufacturing, is in-house.
