Celsis International of the UK, a specialist in diagnostic systems to detect and measure microbial contamination for the pharmaceutical, personal care and food industries, has signed up Boots Manufacturing (BM) as a new customer.

The company will supply its Celsis Advance product to BM, which produces solid dose and powders, liquids and creams and sterile products ranging from injectables to ophthalmic preparations, to help the firm increase its product screening capability.

Jay LeCoque, Celsis' chief executive, said: "This agreement has been one of my personal objectives since we re-developed our customer facing capabilities in Europe."

The Celsis Advance system provides product screening test results in as little as 24 hours, allowing for rapid detection of potential microbial quality problems. Celsis claims that use of the system also reduces 'product for sale' release times over other more traditional screening methods, providing significant financial savings by more effectively managing supply chains and reducing inventory and warehousing costs.
