An international conference serving global centres of excellence for biotechnology, so-called 'bio-technopoles,' life science parks and 'bio-incubators' will take place ahead of the 7th European Biotech Crossroads which takes place in Nantes, France, on 25 September.

The meeting, claimed to be the first of its kind, will feature representatives from some of the world's leading biotechnology centres, such as Germany's Technologiepark in Heidelburg, the Centre Québécois d'Innovation en Biotechnologie in Canada, the UK's Manchester Science Park, Portugal's Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica, the Parc Cientific de Barcelona in Spain and China's Henan Provincial Productivity Promotion Centre.

"The goal of the meeting is to compare experiences at the international level and share good practice in terms of company incubation and business support for early-stage start-ups in the biotech, healthcare and life science sectors," according to the organisers, Nantes-St Nazaire-based technopole and bio-incubator Atlanpole. Entrepreneurs, company representatives and support professionals (such as lawyers, accountants and patent agents) will share the platform in order to provide a comprehensive panorama of the key players involved in the incubation process, it said.

Two international organisations are supporting the event, namely the Business Innovation Centres that make up the European BIC Network and the International Association of Science Parks.
