One of Pfizer Global R&D's major research facilities, based in Nerviano, Italy, has signed an expanded agreement with PerkinElmer in which the latter will provide repair, maintenance and validation services for sophisticated liquid chromatography systems, as well as autosamplers and interfaces originally supplied by several different manufacturers.

The Nerviano site employs roughly 1,000 staff, with more than 700 primarily devoted to oncology drug discovery, preclinical and medical development and regulatory projects.

Under the terms of the new agreement, PE's new OneSource Laboratory Services business will station engineers on-site to be available as needed to sustain PGRD's laboratory instrument operations. OneSource was launched specifically to help customers reduce the complexity of installing instruments, qualifying operators and documenting laboratory processes, according to PE.
