Tekni-Plex answers Latin call

Tekni-Plex has said that its Argentinian subsidiary will begin production of precision tubing for aerosols and other dip-tube applications at its Buenos Aires facility.

Multinational packaging group Tekni-Plex has said that its Argentinian subsidiary will soon begin production of precision tubing for aerosols and other dip-tube applications at its Buenos Aires facility.

Tekni-Plex' vice president Michael Franklin said the move was in response to demands from some of its customers for 'local' manufacture in South America.

"The addition of this tubing-manufacturing capability in Argentina is an extension of our conversion and distribution efforts for high-barrier pharmaceutical blister films," Franklin said. "It will enable our global customers to take advantage of local preferential currency and tariff conditions" in the Mercosur trade region.

Tekni-Plex has been providing blister films for the pharmaceutical industry since 1971, and produces a broad range of films, cap liners, tubing, and plastic/rubber gaskets for aerosol dispensers and pumps, as well as extruded materials for speciality applications such as cleanroom equipment.
