A new exhibition scheduled to take place in Hyderabad, India, in early 2005 claims to be the first to bring domestic and international chemical companies to the same forum.
ChemSpec India will take place on 21-24 February 2005 at the Hitex exhibition centre in Hyderabad and is backed by a number of leading industry associations in India, including the Bulk Drug Manufacturers Association, Indian Chemical Manufacturers Association and Indian Drug Manufacturers Association.
Values at $32 billion (€27.4bn), the Indian chemicals market is one of the fastest growing in the world, and has clocked up double-digit growth for much of the last decade. It is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the Indian economy which, in turn, is expected to grow by around 5.5 to 6.0 per cent per year over the next few years, a growth rate that will likely be matched by few countries around the world.
Indeed, the conference comes at an opportune time, as changes to India's national Patent Laws on 1 January, 2005, will bring the country into compliance with global rules. This is expected to have a major impact on the chemicals industry as international companies open up their relationships with India, according to the conference organisers, DMG World Media.
