Tabletop homogeniser for pharma
be used to test homogenisations before scaling-up to industrial
applications.
The Pharma NS1001L is a spin-off from Niro Soavi's established product range targeted at the food industry, but is available in a hygienic finishing and can be supplied as an aseptic version if required, catering to the requirements of drug developers.
The product can process small volumes of liquids and pumpable fluids, homogenising samples at rates up to approximately 160 ml/min, at pressures that can reach 21,750 psi, according to the company. It can handle abrasive, corrosive and high viscosity liquids (up to 20,000Cp) and temperatures up to 90 degrees Centigrade.
"The ability to test small samples at very high pressure permits complete laboratory studies on particle micronisation and, for biochemical application, cell rupture," said Niro.
Another selling point is that the system is easy to commission and to operate, and can be dismounted for maintenance and cleaning by the laboratory operator, claims the company, which maintains that it is unique in the marketplace.
The company also sells a range of production homogeniser models with the high pressure/low flow characteristics often required in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
