Nat Ricciardi has been promoted to the post of president, Pfizer Global Manufacturing, responsible for the drugmaker's production and worldwide distribution networks. He will succeed John Mitchell who will retire from the post at the end of this year.
Björn Ekström has become CEO of Olink Bioscience, a Swedish company focusing on protein analysis technology that was founded in September. Previously, he was head of R&D at Pyrosequencing. He also held several positions within R&D at Amersham Biosciences and Pharmacia Biotech.
Australia's pSivida has appointed Mark Parry-Billings as R&D director of its UK-based drug delivery subsidiary pSiMedica. He joins the firm from Innovata Biomed.
PerkinElmer has promoted John Murphy to the new position of chief operating officer from his post as president of the company's optoelectronics business unit, and promoted Robert Friel, chief financial officer since 1999, to executive vice president and added business development to his financial oversight duties
John McLaren has joined Akzo Nobel as director of corporate communications. He was previously employed by DSM, where he was responsible for the communication of the company's Vision 2005 strategy.
PowderMed of the UK, a company focusing on the development of therapeutic DNA vaccines based on the PowderJect needle-free injector, has appointed Adam Christie as chief business officer. He was formerly business development director of PPL Therapeutics and previously worked for GlaxoSmithKline, ABN Amro, Fisons, Abbott Laboratories and Schering.
Danish protein engineering company Borean Pharma has appointed Dr Johanna Holldack as CEO. She moves up from the post of chief operating officer, and was formerly at MediGene and Chiron.
Midwest BioResearch, which provides outsourced drug disposition and toxicology services, has appointed Charles Jeuell as its vice president of analytical operations and Anna Koostra as a senior-level research scientist in the company's protein bioanalysis group.
