Owens-Illinois lauded for 1-Clic closure
Arthritis Foundation in the US for its 1-Clic Packaging System,
first introduced in 2002.
The 1-Clic features an easy-open reversible closure that provides a single audible 'click' to indicate the closure has been secured correctly - a feature that the company claims encourages consistent and proper use. The closure can be used in a child-resistant or non-child-resistant position.
The Arthritis Foundation encourages development of products and packaging that are easy to use, and has an ongoing programme - called Ease-of-Use - under which an independent review panel of design experts, people with arthritis and health professionals evaluate products for recognition.
Manufacturers making use of the 1-Clic packaging can take advantage of the fact that their products can carry an Ease-of-Use Commendation logo. This accreditation system aims to increase consumer awareness of products that make life easier for people with activity limitations and to recognize those companies with arthritis-friendly products.
