The scented product line, which includes a full range of solutions from canisters to polymer tubes and stoppers, allows manufacturers to protect their products from moisture and other elements while also enhancing marketability by adding an appealing orange, lemon or customisable scent to their packaging.
Sud-Chemie said the move demonstrates its 'continued commitment to designing active packaging solutions that not only protect, but add value to its customers' products'.
The company sad it is initially targeting the product line at applications such as fish oil tablets, herbal supplements and other nutraceuticals, as well as chemicals, foods and other products that emit an unpleasant odour typically unappealing to end users.
That said, the scented packaging could also enhance the marketability of odourless products, allowing manufacturers to gain a competitive edge by adding a pleasant scent to their packaging, according to the firm.
The proprietary technology incorporates aromas directly into Sud-Chemie's injection moulded polymer products, as well as its packets and bags.
The flagship product in the scented solution line is Aroma-Can, a product modelled on Sud-Chemie's desiccant canisters which have become widely used in the pharmaceutical industry. One-gram canisters will be available in orange and lemon variations.
Aroma-Can canisters can be inserted at the same high rates of speed as traditional desiccant canisters, using standard canister insertion equipment.
