MG2 launches capsule filling machines

Italian pharmaceutical dosing and packaging equipment manufacturer, MG2, has launched two new dosing machines for hard gelatine capsules, which can handle different dosing combinations in the same capsule, such as powder and tablet, pellets and tablet, or micro-tablets and tablet.

Current capsule filling machines suffer from a lack of speed, which can greatly limit production capacity. According to the company, the new machines - the G70 and G140 - are said to be easy to use and maintain. The G70 can produce up to 70,000 capsules/hr while the G140 achieves 140,000 capsules/hr.

The capsule fillers can be used to dose various products, such as powder, pellets, microtablets and tablets, as well as low dosages of powder (down to 5mg) with or without compaction.

The main difference between the two models is the number of capsule transfer and product dosing elements in the capsule-handling units. The G70 model can also be adapted after purchase to reach the same speeds as the G140.

MG2 has created a protective hood for the machines, which integrates with the machine base. The absence of corners and recesses makes the machine easy to clean, helping to eliminate contamination.

New positioning of the SR/I empty capsule selection system also facilitates access to the machine and reduces maintenance downtime.

The machines are equipped with software for operator machine control and for weight control systems that is fully compliant with the 21 CFR Part 11 standards for handling electronic records and is ready for electronic signature.

The G70 and G140 can also be designed to function automatically and adjusted remotely using remote control.
