Analytic technology company Ometric is promising to revolutionalise
quality control with software that achieves real-time, in-line
final product testing at a rate of five tablets per second,
minimising product recalls, reducing waste caused by time lag and
saving precious resources involved in current sample testing.

SpectrInline Processware uses the company's Multivariate Optical Computing technology for the control of production processes and final product testing in the pharmaceutical industry.

At speeds of five tablets per second, SpectrInline provides for testing of up to 18,000 tablets per hour.

This means that on a process line producing 100,000 tablets per hour, six SpectrInline systems can perform 100 per cent final product testing.

What is more, because the testing process is non-destructive and non-invasive, it will protect personnel from unnecessary exposure to product ingredients.

The issue of backlog is a problem within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

It is required that ten tablets in every thousand manufactured undergo quality control processing.

The market for tablet inspection is growing, as manufacturers are looking to increase their overall product quality level in order to differentiate their products from generics.

Ometric will offer live demonstrations with SpectrInline Processware at the Pittcon exposition in Orlando in March.

The new firm, the first South Carolina-based venture capital-backed company spun out of any of the state's universities, provides solutions to embed analytical technology into industrial processes.
