The Antaris Target Blend Analyzer offers a new spectroscopic analysis technology designed specifically for the control of blend uniformity in real time, thus assisting with the implementation of the Process Analytical Technology (PAT) Initiative for designing, analysing and controlling manufacturing through timely measurements during processing.
This is important because the cost of poor quality can put tremendous strain on the bottom line when a product's manufacturing process is not well controlled.
Using micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology, Thermo's analyzer eliminates the need for thieving and laboratory testing through real-time measurement, improving consistency and yields in pharmaceutical tablet manufacturing lines.
Easy to mount and move, the Antaris Target allows access to different spot sizes to represent different tablet sizes and compression rates and achieves high resolution measurements for accurate endpoint determination and concentration measurements using switch-free automatic data acquisition.
"The Antaris Target Blend Analyzer is dedicated to the real-time analysis of pharmaceutical blending processes and its spectroscopic analysis technology was designed specifically for the control of blend uniformity in real time," Dave Edwards, Thermo's product specialist, told In-PharmaTechnologist.com.
"Wireless data transmission, and rechargeable battery power are also benefits to the instrument."
Thermos says the analyzer's spectral resolution is the best available, revealing non-uniformity in blends and facilitating component assay.
The Antaris Target is also equipped with Thermo's RESULT software platform for process analysis and measurement automation and the ValPro regulatory qualification package.
It also features illumination, a washable NEMA 4X housing, wireless data transmission, fast installation, and rechargeable battery power.
The device shares a software, qualification and data platform with the complete line of Thermo's Antaris II, Antaris MX and EX near-infrared (NIR) process analyzers.
Available with a three-year warranty, Thermo believes the Antaris Target offers repeatability and reliability for use in solid dosage form manufacturing.
