Bosch's presence felt at Achema with new filling technologies

Bosch Packaging Technology will be launching new packaging and processing technologies for pharmaceutical applications at Achema, with products that cover pharmaceutical production, validation, and packaging.

At the centrepiece of Bosch's launch is the new FXS 5100 machine for filling and sealing sterilised syringes. This machine produces at speeds of up to 30,000 syringes per hour with high levels of process security and user friendliness.

The FXS 5100 benefits from a pump station with 10 filling positions for rotary piston pumps, which is driven by a 2-axis servo system. This allows an output of upto 500 syringes per minute.

The technology is flexible in that it can handle syringe range from 0.5 ml up to 50 ml, providing adaptability to different formats and products.

However, the FX5100 is controlled enough to allow extreme filling needle precision with a continuous and repeatable filling accuracy totally achievable. This is partly due to all motions being servo controlled.

Continuous filling and closing is achieved even during the nest change. This means higher filling accuracies and a smaller risk of a disturbance at the closing station.

The entire machine is operated from one side, which benefits any inline or wall installation. In addition, operation is achieved via touch screen operation

The features of this technology make it suitable for Isolator, cRABS, RABS and LF-hood.

Based on the modular function approach used on the in-line syringe filling machines, Bosch has introduced the 5100 as one of the FXS series of nested syringe fillers in 2006.

The series aims to provide technology that is applicable to all output requirements. In the low output segment is the FXS 2020 machine with a capacity of up to 80 syringes/minute.

In the high output segment we have designed the FXS 5100 with an output of up to 500 syringes/minute.

Bosch has stated that with the nested syringe-filling machine as the core of the new product line, a compliment of other processing and packaging machines will also be introduced in 2006 allowing Bosch to supply complete integrated systems for nested syringes.
