Esko introduces new fast packaging programme

Packaging pre-production specialist, Esko has launched a new programme that it claims will streamline the pharma packaging process and bring new products to market up to 40 per cent faster.

Esko's Design Life-Cycle Management solution is a software and hardware package built to manage the collaboration, communication, and execution of package design.

According to the firm, it features design tools that reduce production errors and other workflow inefficiencies and improves the verification and control of complex labelling, dosage, anti-counterfeiting and tampering requirements.

"Managing dosage, labelling and tracing requirements is time-consuming but absolutely essential and Design Life-Cycle Management is a critical business tool in this highly regulated industry," said Simon James, vice president and general manager of Esko.

"The programme helps all the players involved in the process better track and control data, ensuring accuracy and readability of information while reducing expensive proofing runs that slow time to market."

These efficiencies are achieved through Esko's Scope workflow products that digitize the package-design workflow, and include DeskPack, BackStage, PackEdge and WebCenter.

All solutions are modularly based, allowing for easy upgrades and additions, and can be customised to meet the needs of individual pharma manufacturers, said Esko.

One stand-out feature is WebCenter, which the company claims offers a faster and easier way to manage and control package design approvals by allowing users to collaborate over the Internet in real time.

WebCenter also features a secure operating connection that automatically maintains version control and data history for easy tracking and verification of package proofs.

"WebCenter gives brand managers control over the process and brings together all the players involved to communicate better, reducing costly errors in the process," said James.

"It works with all of the other Scope components to speed time-to-market of new products by as much as 40 per cent."

Presented for the first time at the recent bi-annual meeting of the Pharmaceutical Packaging and Labelling Committee's (PPLC) meeting in Fort Worth, Texas, the Design Life-Cycle Management solution is available now.
