AstraZeneca chooses Werum to keep an eye on packaging

AstraZeneca will be using Werum's PAS-X system at its two German production sites to collect operating data from its packaging lines and define and evaluate key performance indicators (KPI), improving equipment performance.

With its introduction of PAS-X to its sites in Wedel and in Plankstadt, AstraZeneca adds a packaging monitoring and control station for operating data acquisition to its internal IT infrastructure.

This control station assembles all packaging-related data, acquired either manually or automatically, giving the control station operator a current overview over the status of all lines and machines. The data collected are fed into the KPI-based reporting system.

The PAS-X software consists of two modules, PAS-LINE and PAS-KPI.

PAS-LINE is a flexible line monitoring system that provides an array of features for process monitoring and process data acquisition, such as being able to interface with the packaging lines and machines

PAS-KPI evaluates the operating data according to individually defined and weighted criteria and generates sound and significant indicators. Typical mission-critical quantities in packaging are cycle times, performance values, and utilization levels, but also downtimes and their causes.

By installing PAS-LINE and PAS-KPI, AstraZeneca implements another tool to improve competitiveness and expand operational efficiency, which are major objectives in the company's IS/IT strategy.
