eClinical services provider ClinPhone has bought electronic data
capture (EDC) vendor DataLabs in a bid to dominate the sector.

According to ClinPhone, the purchase now enables it to collect submission data and become the first company in the biopharmaceutical sector to offer a "comprehensive suite of clinical trial management and data capture systems."

DataLabs brings ClinPhone a new range of software designed to streamline and simplify the data collection process and improve data quality, including EDC, site management, end-user training and validation and compliance tools.

ClinPhone said it has already started integrating the acquired technology with its existing solutions, including randomisation and trial supply management (IVR and IWR), clinical trials management software (CTMS) and electronic patient reported outcomes (ePRO) services.

"This unique combination of clinical trials software and services provides our pharmaceutical, biotech and clinical research organisation (CRO) clients with a complete end-to-end clinical technology platform," said a company statement.

"Sponsors can take advantage of a 'one-stop-shop' technology transfer or a service, custom built to individual project requirements."

ClinPhone said the two companies will also combine their integration products to facilitate the sharing of information between disparate systems in order to "dramatically reduce the time, cost and risk of integration projects."

"We are first to market with this integrated technology offering," said ClinPhone's CEO Steve Kent.

"The assimilation of an established EDC product with our suite of IVR, IWR, CTMS and ePRO solutions gives sponsors a choice that they haven't previously enjoyed."

The enlarged company will now have over 700 staff across North America, Europe and Australasia including a 24 hour client support desk and operational project management of over 450 employees plus 100 software development engineers.
