Klöckner Pentaplast claims its Pentalabel E749/52 AS7 polyester film wraps containers with little to no machine direction shrinkage; a problem which can distort the print on labels, causing a 'smile' effect. The shrink-label film is designed to shrink by up to 78 per cent and can be used to cover part or all of containers that have unusual shapes, the company claims. The firm said the film had several advantages over competitors, such as gauge uniformity, which means that films process on machinery to produce fewer rejects. It added that covering the entire product allows more information and complex designs to be printed, while Pentalabel can screen the product inside, and be used to create easy opening and tamper evident seals. Packagers can also reverse print the film to protect the labels from scratching, while maintaining a high-gloss finish, the manufacturer claims. The film, which is suitable for flexographic and gravure printing processes, offers excellent gauge control, lay-flat properties, ink adhesion, and seaming ability, claims the company. The Klöckner Pentaplast Group produces of films and thermoform packaging for a variety of industries including pharmaceuticals. Headquartered in Germany, the company has 23 production operations across 12 countries.
