Alexza Pharmaceuticals has appointed Anthony Clarke as its vice president, international development operations.

In this capacity Clarke will be responsible for the development of clinical and regulatory operations in international territories.

Clarke was previously vice president, clinical development for Amarin Corporation and has also held posts at Curidium Medica and Cephalon.

Dr Michael Silver has taken the post of scientific director at Amazon Biotech .

Silver has over 15 years of experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device industries, time spent working for Bio-Imaging Technologies, Synarc and DOBI Medical International.

Silver has also acquired eight years' experience in implementing imaging biomarkers in clinical trials for central nervous system (CNS), rheumatology, oncology and cardiovascular therapeutics.

Biogen Idec has named Hans Peter Hasler as its new chief operating officer.

Hasler will take responsibility for all commercial operations as well as the company's business development.

Hasler has been at Biogen 2001, holding the post of executive vice president, global neurology and head of international.

Prior to joining Biogen Hasler worked at Wyeth for eight years, serving as senior vice president, head of global strategic marketing since 1998.

Charles (Chuck) Bramlage has been appointed to the position of president, pharmaceutical products at healthcare giant Covidien .

Bramlage will lead the overall management and strategic direction of the pharmaceutical products business reporting to Timothy Wright.

Prior to joining Covidien, Bramlage worked at Valeant Pharmaceuticals and has also held executive positions at BattellePharma.

ImClone Systems has appointed Bernhard Ehmer as senior vice president and managing director, international operations.

Ehmer has over 20 years of experience in clinical development and global operations in the pharmaceutical industry, most recently Fresenius Biotech and Biopheresis Technologies.

Clark Ridge has joined the leadership team at healthcare management company PharmaCentra , as vice president of operations and client services.

Prior to joining PharmaCentra, Ridge held positions at Assurant and Concentra Solutions.

Contract services firm Pharmagistics has named Roseanne Branciforte as its new managing director.

Branciforte has 20 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry including executive positions at Dexcel Pharma Technologies, inVentiv Health, Metagen Pharmaceuticals, and most recently Esprit Pharma.

Pierre Lapalme has been appointed interim CEO at cancer drug developer Bioxel Pharma , after Pascal Delmas left the company.
