PDI has appointed Nancy Lurker as CEO and a member of the company's board of directors. Previously Lurker was senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp.

INC Research has appointed Dr. Renee Simar as its principle paediatric strategist. In this role, Simar will be leading the INC Research pediatric team in developing programme strategy and considerations for clinical trials in neonates, children and adolescents.

Sancilio & Company has named Dr. Rizwan Kazmi to the post of senior director of pharmaceutical R&D.

Bernard Mulder has joined high-throughput R&D specialist Avantium Technologies as global vice president, business development pharma. He will be charged with developing the firm’s pharmaceutical service business.

Rich Fante has been named president of AstraZeneca 's US business. Fante takes over from Tony Zook, whose role was expanded after recently being named president of MedImmune, AstraZeneca’s wholly-owned biologics business.

etrials Worldwide has named Denis Connaghan as its new president and CEO, replacing Chuck Piccirillo who has served as interim president and CEO since July 10. Piccirillo has returned to his former role as etrials’ vice president of technology.

Halloran Consulting Group, which provides clinical development services for emerging and established life sciences companies, has named Laura Araujo as senior director of quality management and Tina Forrister as senior associate for training and development.

Specialty contract research organisation Clinilabs has appointed Dr. Howard Greenberg as the new senior medical director of its Clinical Pharmacology unit.

John Tomera has joined WorldCare Clinical, a specialist in imaging for clinical trials in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries, as director of regulatory affairs and associate medical director.

Dr. Conrad Heilman will be appointed president and CEO of Tunnell Consulting, effective July 2009. Heilman will serve immediately as chief operating officer and retain that post until he assumes the other roles. He succeeds Dr. Joseph Tempio.
