Merck challenged to re-evaluate waste water

Virginia’s Waste Control Board has challenged Merck to create different ways of achieving compliance with 2011 environmental standards, according to the Rocktown Weekly that is based in the state.

New discharge limits have been set to combat the pollution of Chesapeake Bay, which Merck’s Stonewall Plant needs to become compliant with.

The regulations will require waste water treatments to limit the levels of nitrogen and phosphorous that enter the aquatic environment.
