Serene opens Indian IT centre

Serene has officially opened its offshore development centre in India, which will provide IT outsourcing services to support and complement its existing capabilities in the US.

The company’s new building is located at an IT hub in Pune in western India from where it will run operations including data management.

Serene’s Indian site was operational prior to the official opening this week and has already attracted praise from clients using the service.

Dave Kuo, senior director of information management at CV Therapeutics, said: "In addition to managing data warehouse report development for our sales and marketing groups, Serene manages our day-to-day Siebel SFA operations, primarily at their offshore development centre.

"The process is seamless and worry-free for us. Our Serene project manager here in the US works with the offshore resources to get the job done. He keeps the lines of communication open with us, and we're very satisfied with the results."

Serene claims it will only take on a client after performing evaluations to ensure offshoring will be beneficial. Once a project commences Serene integrates its capabilities into the clients existing operations, using its Indian capacity and the pharmaceutical knowledge of its US team.

In an attempt to ensure that the Indian facility is staffed with talented employees Serene claims to offer an attractive package, which reduces the problem of high turnover.

Ajit Kumbhare, CEO of Serene, said: "It is no longer enough for outsourcing to deliver value based on cost alone. Smart outsourcing delivers strategic value based on business results, and that's what Serene provides.”
