The new president of Sanofi-Aventis France – People on the move

in-PharmaTechnologist presents its latest round up of appointments in the pharmaceutical sector, including the new president of Sanofi-Aventis France.

Sanofi has appointed Christian Lajoux as president of its operations in France. Prior to the appointment Lajoux was general manager of Sanofi’s pharmaceutical business in France.

Lajoux joined Sanofi in 1993 after spending 18 years working for the Sandoz group. Since 2006 he has been head of the French Pharmaceutical Companies Association (LEEM).

Morten Jurs has been appointed as CEO of Pronova BioPharma ASA. Jurs has served as chief financial officer (CFO) of Pronova since 2006.

Prior to this Jurs also served as CFO at Kitron ASA, Santec Micro Group ASA, Telenor Nextra AS and Broadband Mobile ASA.

Australia-based Progen Pharmaceuticals has overhauled its board to ensure compliance with the independent director requirements that are necessary to remain listed on the NASDAQ.

Stephen Chang, Wolf Hanisch and Justus Homburg and have all resigned from the board, although the latter will retain his role as CEO.

To replace them Stuart James has been appointed chairman and Julie Cherrington, John Chiplin and Gordon Schooley have become non-executive directors.

Rajinder Kumar is joining Minister Pharmaceuticals as a consultant to help define development and commercialisation pathways.

Kumar worked at SmithKline Beecham, and later GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), until 2002. In 2005 he established his own consultancy.

Belgium-based biotech Silicos has appointed Jack Elands as its chief business officer. Elands has previously worked at Marion Merrell Dow, now Sanofi, and most recently held a position at Sidec AB.
