Appointments at Laxai, LabConnect, ERT and Avid Bioservices – People on the move
Magid Abou-Gharbia has joined Laxai as a scientific advisor. Abou-Gharbia worked at Wyeth for 26 years, holding positions including senior vice president (VP) and head of chemical screening sciences. Since 2008 he has worked in academia.
LabConnect has appointed Frank Morrow as its chief operating officer. Morrow has worked extensively in the central lab business, holding senior positions at Quintiles and Quest Diagnostics Clinical trials.
Robert Shovlin has been promoted to CEO of Aureon Laboratories, replacing Vijay Aggarwal who will remain on the company’s board of directors.
Shovlin joined the company in June 2005 as vice president of sales and market and was promoted to chief operating officer in 2007. Before joining Aureon Shovlin held positions at Quest Diagnostics and DIANON Systems.
OctoPlus’ chief scientific officer Joost Holthuis is leaving the company after working there for 15 years. Holthuis will continue to help OctoPlus on a consultancy basis.
ERT (eResearchTechnology) has appointed Miki Stevens as associate director of business development, Japan. In this capacity Steven will work with ERT’s Japanese partner to facilitate sales and provide support to clinical trial sites.
Before joining ERT Stevens worked at Parexel.
Avid Bioservices has made two appointments to its executive team that it believes will equip it for further growth. Firstly, Truc Le joins the company as chief operating officer.
Le has more than 30 years experience at companies including Nektar Therapeutics and Johnson & Johnson. He also co-founded MLH Group a global operations consultancy for the pharma industry.
Christopher Eso has also joined the company as VP of business operations. Eso joins the company from Agilent Technologies and he has also worked at Peregrine Pharmaceuticals and Watson Pharmaceuticals in his 14 years in the sector.
