Colorcon asks Oracle to help cut costs

Drug excipients and coatings firm Colorcon says that adoption of Oracle’s “Enterprise Manager” platform will reduce IT downtime and costs.

The system is designed to link information flow between disparate global IT systems, eliminating time-intensive manual adjustment steps that are required to ensure that data from one area a firm’s infrastructure can be passed to the next.

Oracle said its technology allows “Colorcon to improve application service levels with proactive monitoring capabilities that alert IT staff to issues and enabled them to rapidly identify and resolve problems before escalation

Naveen Garg, manager of Colorcon’s global database infrastructure, explained that: “Our IT environment has been expanding at a rapid pace with increasing numbers of ERP systems, middleware technology and databases.”

Problems can occur anywhere in this environment and we could not rely on traditional monitoring tools to deliver top performance and availability.”
