Shire extends Medidata trial management contract

Medidata Solutions has won a multi-year extension to its benchmarking and analysis contract with drugmaker Shire.

The revised multi-year deal, announced late yesterday, adds three new analysis modules to the Medidata Grants Manager and contract research organisation (CRO) Contractor technologies that Shire uses to manage its various clinical programmes.

Medidata said that the expanded analysis capabilities will allow Shire to more closely analyse and control its current and future global clinical trial budgets.

Fred Naids, Shire’s senior strategic sourcing director, said: “We have always benefitted from our collaborative relationship with the Medidata Trial Planning team, and in this case, they were able to help us spot areas for improvements across our budgeting and forecasting process.

Moving forward, the Grants Manager and CRO Contractor Analysis modules are going to play a key role in our ability to access and learn from critical benchmarking data.”
