Frontage hiring to launch its DMPK unit and appointments at Patheon and Atacama Labs Oy – People on the move
Patheon has appointed Mark Kontny as president of global pharmaceutical development services (PDS) and chief scientific officer. Before joining Patheon Kontny worked at Abbott Laboratories and has also held positions at Boehringer-Ingelheim and Pfizer.
Robert Lammens has joined Atacama Labs Oy as chief technology officer. Lammens worked at Bayer AG, mainly in the field of solid dosage forms, and will continue to lecture at the department of pharmaceutical technology at the University of Bonn, Germany.
Frontage Laboratories has launched its drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) unit and hired a number of people to lead the division. Firstly, Abdul Mutlib has been appointed as vice president of DMPK services, having previously worked at Pfizer and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
Jack Wang, a former Wyeth and Apotex employee, has joined as assistant VP and Li Shen has been appointed associate director. Frontage has also named former Pfizer worker Jim Burleigh as lab manager, Seonghee Park as senior scientist and Peter Liu as associate director.
Intertek has appointed Luca Matassa as senior director LCMS (liquid chromatography mass spectrometry) services for Intertek Alta Bioanalytical LCMS located in El Dorado Hills, California, US.
Matassa has 20 years of experience at contract research organisations (CRO), most recently at Tandem Labs bioanalytical operations. He has also held positions at Covance and Maxxam Analytics.
Allison Risko has been promoted to SVP, professional services at Kaplan EduNeering. Risko joined Kaplan in 2007 and before this worked at Wolters Kluwer Health and Lippincott Williams and Wilkins.
Kaplan has also appointed Andy Schemick as chief financial officer. Schemick joins the company from Kaplan K12 Learning Services Division and has also held positions at Supresta and Arthur Anderson.
