Appointments at the EMA, SCM Pharma, Silence Therapeutics and Akrimax Pharmaceuticals – People on the move

in-PharmaTechnologist presents its latest round up of movements in the pharma sector, including appointments at the EMA, SCM Pharma, Silence Therapeutics and Akrimax Pharmaceuticals.

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has named Alexis Nolte as head of its quality of medicines sector. Nolte has worked as principal scientific administrator in the sector since 1999 and will now replace John Purves.

Also, the EMA has appointed Jean-Claude Brival as head of its product data management sector.

Diane Sharp has joined SCM Pharma as managing director to accelerate the CMO’s growth. Sharp replaces Shirley Dann, who will remain a director and lead the firm’s business development team. Before joining SCM Sharp was managing director of Mechetronics.

Polyplus-transfection SA has appointed Mark Bloomfield as CEO. Bloomfield replaces Frédéric Perraud who is taking the positions of deputy CEO and chief operating officer.

Before joining Polyplus Bloomfield worked at Hewlett-Packard, Agilent Technologies, Thermo Electron and Applied Biosystems.

Jorg Kaufmann has been promoted the position of vice president (VP) of research at Silence Therapeutics. Kaufmann joined Silence in 2000 having previously worked at Chiron.

Novasep has strengthened operations with two appointments. Stephen Stefano joins the contract manufacturing organisation (CMO) as president and CEO of the North American business, having previously spent 29 years at Glaxo, GlaxoWellcome and GlaxoSmithKline.

In addition, Patrick Glaser has been hired as president and CEO of the synthesis division. Over the past 24 years Glaser has worked at Knoll Pharmaceuticals, BASF and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories.

Neil Larimer has joined Akrimax Pharmaceuticals as VP business development and manufacturing alliances. Larimer previously worked at DPT Laboratories.
