Appointments at GSK, KV Pharmaceutical, ParagonRx, West, Novavax and Unilife – People on the move

in-PharmaTechnologist presents its latest round up of movements in the pharma sector, including appointments at GSK, KV Pharmaceutical, ParagonRx, West, Novavax and Unilife.

Sue West has been appointed as vice president (VP), global manufacturing and supply, Canada at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK). West joined GSK in 1988, most recently working as director of production.

Packaging equipment manufacturer Brenton, a division of Pro Mach, has hired Troy Snader as VP of sales. Snader was president and founder of Packaging Systems and has also worked at Sandiacre Packaging Machinery.

KV Pharmaceutical has appointed David Sidransky as a new independent member of its board of directors. Oncologist Sidransky replaces John Sampson who has resigned. He has served on scientific advisory boards at MedImmune, Roche, Amgen and Veridex.

Douglas Kargman has joined Acorda Therapeutics as VP of drug safety. Kargman has previously worked at Novartis and Pfizer.

ParagonRx, an inVentiv Health company, has named William Holden as chief safety officer. Before joining ParagonRx Holden worked at Vertex Pharmaceuticals. He has also worked at Sanofi Pasteur, Novartis and SmithKline Beecham.

Gregory Glenn has been appointed as chief scientific officer at Novavax. Glenn was previously chief scientific officer and founder of Iomai Corporation, now Intercell.

International Speciality Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals (ISC&P) has hired John Cox as EVP. Cox worked at Charkit Chemical Corporation and will now take responsibility for developing business in existing product lines and new markets at ISC&P.

Jeffrey Hunt has been named as VP, strategic planning and business development at West Pharmaceutical Services. Hunt joins from Coviden and has also worked at Tyco Healthcare/Kendall.

Unilife has expanded its management team by employing Christopher Naftzger as general counsel, corporate secretary and chief compliance officer. Before joining Unilife Naftzger worked at Chesapeake and has also held positions at Koch Industries and Blank Rome.
