Jorg Pieper, MD of Germany-based centrifuge maker, told in-Pharmatechnologist that Comber’s range of nutsche and horizontal and vertical dryers compliment Heinkel's existing portfolio and broaden its offering.
Pieper said the technologies, combined with Heinkel’s centrifuge and drying systems, will enable the firm to cater for all aspects of liquid/solid separation, which he described as “the most important part of the pharmaceutical and fine chemical process.
“We often have the same customers, they will benefit from this combination. We are now able to offer a wider range and a better after sales service,” continued Pieper, explaining that this includes maintenance support, training and retrofitting services.
He also said that Comber’s presence in both the US and Italian markets, in which it generates business worth around €10m ($13m) a year, was a further key motivation for the acquisition.
