TraceLink is providing Patheon with its Predictable Supply Suite. Since launching the web-based platform in April TraceLink has inked deals with Catalent and Patheon, and the company “expects many more deals to be announced in the near future”.
Brian Daleiden, vice president, marketing and online sales at TraceLink, told Outsourcing-Pharma, that companies like the suite because it meets an “unmet need in the industry for more efficient and effective ways to manage outsourced manufacturing”.
Offerings such as business-to-business (B2B) networking, supply chain management and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems lack the capabilities needed to serve suppliers in the current market, said Daleiden.
Using the TraceLink suite suppliers can connect with all their clients to: share accurate and timely production and planning data; collaborate to optimise supply performance; and provide visibility to shared manufacturing status along the entire lifecycle.
These capabilities tap into changes in the sector. Daleiden said TraceLink tailored its offering to function effectively in a market: where the supply chain is increasingly complex; clients want to retain visibility over outsourced manufacturing; and strategic partnerships are commonplace.
“All three of these trends lead directly to the need for a high performance supply network that connects all CMOs through better integration, interoperability and business collaboration”, said Daleiden.
Scalability
The package is also useful for smaller biopharm and contract partners. Daleiden said TraceLink has designed the suite to make it “easy for even the smallest, “long-tail” pharmaceutical company or contract partner to get connected and get collaborating.
“The cost-effective scalability of the solution has also been a key factor in attracting the interest of companies like these two leading CMOs (Catalent and Patheon) with hundreds of Life Science customers.”
Patheon and TraceLink plan to begin rolling out the program to clients in the second half of 2010.
