J&J strengthening manufacturing and appointments at Alexza and Inspire – People on the move

in-PharmaTechnologist presents its latest round up of movements in the pharma sector, including J&J strengthening manufacturing and appointments at Alexza and Inspire.

Ajit Shetty has been appointed by Johnson & Johnson (J&J) to oversee its quality, manufacturing and compliance operations. In the newly created Shetty will report directly to William Weldon, CEO of J&J.

Alexza Pharmaceuticals has named Darl Moreland as vice president (VP), quality. Moreland was most recently VP, quality assurance and compliance at Mentor Worldwide, a J&J company, and has also worked at Genentech, Eli Lilly and Conor Medsystems.

Charles Johnson has joined Inspire Pharmaceuticals as EVP of research and development and chief medical officer. Johnson has previously worked at APT Pharmaceuticals and Genentech.

Cornerstone Pharmaceuticals has named Dorit Arad as director of research and development of its operations in Israel. Arad is the founder of NLC Pharma, Anticancer Israel and MND Diagnostics.

Colin Stewart has been appointed as president and CEO of Amarin. Stewart has more than 30 years of executive experience at pharma companies including CollaGenex and ASTA Medica Group.

Selecta Biosciences has hired Werner Cautreels as president and CEO. Cautreels has previously worked at Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Sanofi, Sterling-Winthrop and Nycomed-Amersham.

Magnus Borg has joined Sigma-Aldrich as VP and chief information officer. Earlier in his career Borg worked as chief information officer at Ericsson North America and Safety-Kleen.

American Peptide Company has appointed Stewart Hamilton as sales and marketing director for Europe. Hamilton has previously worked at Senn Chemicals and Bachem. Also, Stewart White has joined the firm as sales account executive for the East Coast of the US.
