Appointments at Discovery Laboratories, Eli Lilly and Agios Pharmaceuticals – People on the move
Discovery Laboratories has appointed Thomas Hoy as vice president (VP), manufacturing operations. Hoy will be responsible for product manufacturing, global supply chain and pharma development. Before joining the company Hoy worked at Johnson & Johnson for 20 years.
Scott Biller has been hired by Agios Pharmaceuticals as chief scientific officer. Biller has previously worked at Novartis Pharmaceuticals and Bristol-Myers Squibb.
Eli Lilly has named Jeffrey Winton as VP of communications. Winton will also become a member of the Lilly global corporate affairs leadership team. Earlier in his career Winton worked at Schering-Plough, Pharmacia, Hoffman-La Roche and American Cyanamid Company.
Ted Hibben has been appointed as SVP of corporate development at Ensemble Therapeutics. Before joining Ensemble Hibben worked at Cequent Pharmaceuticals and Coley Pharmaceutical.
Portola Pharmaceuticals has named Jean-Jacques Bienaime as a member of its board of directors. Bienaime is CEO of BioMarin Pharmaceutical and has also worked at Genencor and Sangstat Medical Corporation.
William Young and Kenneth Bate have joined the board of directors at BioMarin Pharmaceutical. Young worked at Eli Lilly, Genentech and is chairman of the board of Biogen Idec. Bate is CEO of Archemix and has previously worked at Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
SurModics has appointed Scott Ward to its board of directors. Ward has more than 30 years of experience in medical technology, most recently at Medtronic.
John Lambert has been elected as member and chair of the supervisory board at Mucosis BV. Lambert has previously worked at Aventis Pasteur MSD and Chiron Vaccines.
