The new liquid CPO grade, which has an Reinheitszahl (Rz) value of around 1.2 and costs $7.50 per KU, is intended for “in demand” industrial processes including oxidations and halogenations
BRP president Bryce Cunningham said: “There has been an increased interest in CPO from industrial and pharmaceutical markets which has prompted us to establish a grade that better meets their needs.”
Business development manager Harold Durkin flagged up the new grade’s environmental benefits, explaining that: “This catalyst fits in well with the green chemistry movement.”
Dr Durkin also suggested the product will be of interest to those outside the drug industry, highlighting the fine fragrance sector where the oxidation of primary alcohols to aldehydes is a key process as an example.
