A new job for former FDA chief and Catalent packaging appointments – People on the move
Andrew von Eschenbach, the former US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) commissioner, has joined the board of directors at Viamet Pharmaceuticals. Von Eschenbach has expertise in urology, prostate cancer research, patient healthcare policy and pharmaceutical regulation.
Catalent has made two appointments to strengthen its packaging team. Pierre-Antione Grenot, formerly of Gerresheimer, has joined as business development manager, continental Europe. Phillip Meister has also been hired for packaging business development.
Ed Harrigan, the former chief of licensing at Pfizer, has joined Karuna Pharmaceuticals as CEO. In addition to two spells at Pfizer Harrigan has also worked at Neurogen and Sepracor.
Hikma Pharmaceuticals has changed its leadership. Bassam Kanaan, chief financial at Hikma, will relinquish his current role to become president and chief operating officer for MENA (Middle-East and North Africa) and EU (European Union) regions.
Khalid Nabilsi, who joined Hikma in 2001, will replace Kanaan as chief financial officer. Finally, Michael Raya has been promoted executive vice president (EVP) and CEO for the US and Riad Mishlawi is now EU VP and global head of injectables.
Univar has made David Jukes president of European operations. Jukes replaces John van Osch who is leaving to pursue other interests. Jukes joined Univar in 2002.
Bioproduction technology firm 3D Biotek has appointed James Fay as SEVP and a member of the management leadership team. Fay has previously worked at SansRosa Development and spent 22 years at Johnson & Johnson.
Wolfgang Noe has been named as a senior consultant at BioProcess Technology Consultants. Noe most recently worked as VP, strategic development and technical alliance at Biogen Idec.
Mitegen has hired Robert Newman as CEO. Newman has spent 23 years working in high-tech companies, including Mettler Toledo Hi-Speed, AeroFarms and Moldflow.
