A new CEO at Patheon and appointments at Aesica – People on the move

Outsourcing-Pharma presents its latest round up of movements in the pharma outsourcing sector, including a new CEO at Patheon and appointments at Aesica.

Patheon has named James Mullen as CEO. Mullen worked as CEO and president of Biogen Idec for 10 years and is now joining in Patheon to fill the position vacated by Wes Wheeler in December 2010.

Kathy Bohannon has joined INC Research as principal strategist, pediatrics. Bohannon joins INC from Premier Research and has also worked at Biovail and Merck & Co.

Aesica has appointed a team to manage its European operations after it acquired three sites from UCB. Simon Clough, who has been at Aesica for three years, is now managing director, formulated products business unit. Katy Linekar has also joined the unit as finance director.

Clough and Linekar will be based at the former-UCB site in Monheim, Germany. Helen Taylor will relocate to the site for three months as part of integration efforts. Similarly, Edd Wood and Janette Waterhouse will temporarily work at Pianezza, Italy and Zwickau, Germany respectively.

Impact Analytical has added four technical personnel in conjunction with a service expansion. Tom Sanders has joined as associate scientist, thermal and mechanical properties and Lee Koski has been appointed as consultant, elemental analysis laboratory.

Also, two analytical technologists have been hired. Sheron Walker joins to work in the liquid separations laboratory and Debbie Beuthin has been added to the gas separations laboratory.

François Spézia has been hired to lead the reproductive toxicology department at CIT. Spézia worked at Hoechst Marion Roussel, Pfizer and Novexel before joining France-based CIT.

Total Logistics has made five full-time appointments. Jon Porter, who has previously worked with Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline and Sanofi-aventis, has been hired as a senior consultant and Stuart Parsons has taken the same position in the UK team.

The other three appointees, all of whom also join as senior consultants, are Paul Pouwels, Ian Kendell and Craig Ryder. Making the appointments is intended to support growing demand for supply chain consultancy services.
