Appointments at INC Research, DPT, PharmaNet and CTI – People on the move

Outsourcing-Pharma presents its latest round up of movements in the pharma outsourcing sector, including appointments at INC Research, DPT, PharmaNet and CTI.

Jeffrey Freitag​ has expanded his role at PharmaNet Development Group​ to become chief medical officer. Freitag will continue as senior vice president, PharmaNet Consulting. Before rejoining PharmaNet in 2006 Freitag worked at Bone Care International.

INC Research​ has hired Patrick Melvin​ as executive director, oncology. Melvin has 20 years of drug development experience, in haematology and oncology, at companies including PPD and Premier Research.

Grant Gilker​ has been named general manager, operations for the DPT Laboratories​’ semi-solids and liquids manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas, US. Gilker has 21 years of pharma manufacturing experience working at companies including Pharmetics and Patheon.

DPT​ has also appointed Luis Velez​ as director of development services. Velez has 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, most recently at Cordis USA as new products transfer director.

Paul Viggers​ has joined Biotec Services​ as project manager. Viggers worked for the Welsh Assembly Government for 12 years, during which time he worked with Biotec to support its international expansion.

CTI Clinical Trial and Consulting Services​ has promoted Catherine Klose​ to director, business development and client management. Klose joined CTI in 2009 having previously worked Astellas Pharma. Also, CTI has promoted Meredith Boley​ to regulatory specialist.

Reneé Smith​ has joined Metrics​ to fill a newly-created validation manager position. Hiring Smith centralises oversight of validation activities and a multi-disciplinary team, which used to handle the task, will now assist her.

Pharm-Olam International ​(POI​) has named Maria Verdugo​ as head of its new ophthalmology unit. Verdugo is also chief scientific officer at POI and has previously worked at Alcon and Allergan.

Brad Gien​ has been hired by BASi​ to work in its Culex services team. BASi recently added the ability to work with large animals and hired Gien in conjunction with this expansion.
