AAIPharma adds online raw material testing system

AAIPharma Services has created a 24/7 online quote generation and sample submission service to simplify raw material testing requests.

Clients input their testing requirements into the website and a proposal or sample submission form is immediately generated. AAIPharma will then, usually, release the compendial raw materials within 10 days.

This system will provide our clients with an easier and more efficient means of completing the paperwork necessary to ensure a successful sample submission, allowing us to process incoming samples faster”, Ryan Taro, compendial business group manager at AAIPharma, said.

When entering their request clients select the pharmacopeia, material and tests from a database. After inputting the number of preparations, special instructions and handling requirements a submission form is generated ready for printing.

"We are pleased to improve service to our customers with the flexibility, accuracy and convenience of our online system”, Taro said. AAIPharma first mentioned development of the website when discussing the expansion of its raw material testing laboratory.

Testing expansion

Creation of the online system follows expansion of compendial raw material testing capabilities. In March AAIPharma moved to a purpose-built laboratory in Wilmington, North Carolina with capacity and capabilities to cut testing times to 10 days, or fewer if clients select the expedited service.

The new lab space also improves integration with other AAIPharma lines of business”, Taro said. Closer ties to solid dose and sterile manufacturing and packaging operations cuts the risk of delays from waiting for the laboratory to release raw materials.

AAIPharma has housed HPLC (high-performance liquid chromatography) systems, gas generation equipment to supply chromatographs, and updated support tools at the site. Data acquisition software and improved information technology capabilities have also been installed.
