Pfizer gains 1st ISO 50001 energy accreditation at Ireland plant

A Pfizer Ireland plant has become the first in its network to achieve ISO accreditation for cutting CO2 emissions and energy use.

The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) introduced 50001 in June as an accreditation for energy management systems. Pfizer’s plant in Loughbeg, Ireland has achieved the award.

Abbott has also achieved ISO 50001 at three of its plants in Ireland. The Sligo active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) plant gained accreditation by further developing its energy performance indicators, according to a SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) presentation.
