Speed coating tech sales soaring, says Seppic
The firm says the tech - named Sepicoat- is able to work rapidly because of its high concentration of dry matter, which can be as much as 25 per cent in dispersion, versus around 20 per cent industry standard.
Seppic claims the product – which was launched at October’s CPhI annual exhibition – can also reduce coating time by 25 per cent at production stage.
The powder-based solution will also work with blister packaging without the introduction of an additive.
Armelle Le Peniec, marketing and development manager of pharmacy and nutrition, told Outsourcing-Pharma the firm has seen an unexpectedly high level of demand for the product.
He said: “Sales look very promising due to the huge amount of samples sent.
“The pharma process take time to register a new product, yet we have already sold few hundred kilograms of product. Usually for a pharma product, we have to wait at least 6 months to have our first order.”
Le Peniec added that sales have reached such an extent that some customers have placed orders for Sepicoat without first testing.
Future clients
When asked who the main target client for the future will be, Le Peniec replied: “We are currently working with multinational pharmaceutical company as well as medium size companies, generic and contract manufacturers.”
He added that though Sepicoat is aimed primarily at the pharma market – both branded and generic – the company is eager to work with any client “looking for innovation."
