News from AMRI, West Pharmaceuticals and Sanofi – People on the move

Outsourcing-Pharma presents its weekly round-up of the latest appointments within the pharmaceutical industry, including news from AMRI, West Pharmaceuticals and Sanofi.

AMRI has named Tom McGrath as the new director of quality for aseptic services at its plant in Burlington, US.

He joins the team from AMAG Pharmaceuticals, where he was quality control (QC) director.

Steven Hagen, VP of pharmaceutical development and manufacturing at AMRI said McGrath would help to improve performance in Burlington, adding:“Tom brings extensive knowledge and experience in quality systems enabling product development and commercialization”.

West Pharmaceutical Services has drafted William Feehery onto the board of directors.

Feehery is currently also global business director for CRO (contract research organisation) DuPont Photovoltaic Solutions, in its electronics and communications segment.

Donald Morel, West's chairman and CEO, said:"Bill broadens the Board's expertise in managing complex, growing, multi-national businesses, and also brings very relevant academic and professional knowledge in materials technology, which is at the heart of much of what we do here at West."

Jean-Luc Lowinski is set to become as senior VP of the Asia Region at Sanofi.

Lowinski, who will take up his new role in May, joins the firm after a 20-year career at Bayer, where he was most recently global head of the animal health division.

He will also become a member of Sanofi’s global leadership board.

Hanspeter Spek, president of global operations at Sanofi said:“I’m confident that his deep knowledge of different Asian cultures makes him ideally suited to lead our operations to continued growth and success in the region.”

Premier Research Group has named Eeva-Kaarina Koskelo as executive director of clinical development services.

In her new role, Koskelo will take charge of planning for pediatric studies.

Her 20 year career spans both the biotech and pharma arena, working for Big Pharma companies including Quintiles, and Encorium.

"Throughout her career, Eeva-Kaarina has been a recognized leader in pediatric clinical research and will support our customers with their pediatric study needs from strategy development through to study execution,"said Sue Stansfield, executive VP of clinical development. 

Healthcare management provider Deloitte has hired Bill Copeland as national managing principal of the life sciences and health care practice.

Copeland will also become sector leader of the firm’s health plans group.

He takes over from John Bigalke who has led the life sciences and health care practice for eight years. Biglake, meanwhile, has been promoted to national leader of the public policy group.

Karen Mazer, vice chairman and managing principal for Deloitte’s US industry practices said:“Bill will build on the foundation established under John’s leadership to help clients face a new set of rubrics brought by reform, changing consumer behaviour and global economic forces.”
