Outsourcing-Pharma presents its weekly round-up of the latest comings and goings in the pharmaceutical industry including news from RPS, INC Research and AMRI.

ReSearch Pharmaceutical Services (RPS) has named Alan Morgan as COO.

Previously, Morgan was group president for clinical research services for Icon.

In his new role, he will work with the teams responsible for developing new services for the biopharma industry.

"Combining our industry-leading Embedded model with our enhanced full-service CRO capabilities has led to attractive and sustained growth,” said Daniel Perlman, chairman and CEO.

“As RPS furthers its global expansion and builds additional services and capabilities in support of our clients needs, we will continue to add expertise and leadership in developing our world class organization.”

Christopher Gaenzle has joined INC Research as its general counsel.

Gaenzle will be responsible for the company’s overall global legal strategy, including contract negotiations, regulatory issues, strategic acquisitions, customer projects and intellectual property matters.

Prior to joining the CRO (contract research organisation) he served in the same role for Pfizer.

CEO James Ogle said: “Chris brings a wealth of experience and a solid understanding of the regulatory and legal issues affecting the Company and the pharmaceutical industry, and will be a valuable addition to our executive team.”

CPR Services has hired Sylvain Mandeville as the director of bioanalytical services at its newly launched $1.2m Singapore laboratory.

“The laboratory will fill a current hole in clinical trial services in the Asian region,” said a spokesperson. “Until now companies undertaking clinical trials in the Asian region have had to send their samples for analysis to either the US or Europe, which is both costly and time-consuming.”

Mandeville will lead all activities at the new facility.

AMRI has added Stephen Rossmeisl as senior facilities manager for its aseptic fill and finish facility in Burlington, US.

Previously associate director of facilities operations for Shire, Rossmeisl will now work on facility maintenance programs, environmental monitoring compliance systems and expansion projects.

“Combined with previously announced recent senior leadership changes at Burlington, Mr. Rossmeisl’s addition further demonstrates AMRI’s commitment to providing industry leading aseptic services with uncompromising quality to the company’s growing client base,” said a spokespersom.

Paragon Solutions has appointed Robert Heiden as associate director, enterprise portfolio management (EPM) for its advisory services consulting practice.

Heiden will work with clients with services such as portfolio rationalisation, demand forecasting, resource utilisation, overall program management and benefits realisation.

“We're finding that many organizations have begun investing in large scale programs to enhance core service offerings and capitalize on the economic recovery in an effort to drive top-line revenue growth and improve operational efficiency,” said Erik Raper, senior vice president of advisory services and Marketing for Paragon.

“Robert will lead the development of Paragon's EPM practice in helping organizations establish a comprehensive, end-to-end approach to program management so they may effectively forecast and plan for project demand, fulfill resource needs, enhance project portfolio performance and improve benefits realization.”
