Reduce changeover time on oral solid dose machinery by cleaning equipment offline, Fette Compacting urged drugsmakers at this year’s Interphex.

Speaking at the conference inNew York, Jim Mossop, new business and project manager, told firms using tools such as tablet presses to ditch the traditional method of cleaning machinery when it is not producing drugs.

Instead, he suggested firms should have a ready-cleaned line of turrets prepared to go into the machine after a batch has been made.

He added that by cleaning the soiled equipment whilst the machinery works, clients of his firm have saved as much as 16 hours production time.

“That means 16 hours of producing tablets,” He said. “When you aren’t making tablets, you aren’t making money.”
