The price of water and corporate agendas are driving pharmaceutical production plants to reuse and reclaim waste, Veolia said.

A desire to make manufacturing more efficient while meeting environmental standards in corporate agendas is leading some drugmakers to reconsider waste handling at their existing production plants. Veolia Water Solutions and Technologies is working with some of these businesses, such as Roche.

We did some revamping of an existing plant to produce energy, biogas in fact, from an effluent. And this biogas is used as an energy source for the facility,” Johann Bonnet, strategic account manager at Veolia, told in-PharmaTechnologist.com.
