Outsourcing-Pharma.com presents its weekly round-up of the latest movers and shakers in the world of pharmaceuticals, including news from Chiltern, Thermo Fisher and Penn Pharma.

Chiltern has promoted two of its execs to the senior management team as part of a leadership shuffle.

Current senior VP of global clinical development Aize Smink will take on the role of chief operating officer, whilst Linda Christmas – previously senior executive VP of global resourcing solutions – is now chief resourcing officer.

The news follows the recent appointment of Jim Esinhart as CEO.

Esinhart said: “As a leading mid-tier CRO, we believe the integration of services, technology and optimal resourcing are critical for success. I look forward to working closely with Aize and Linda in their new roles as we continue Chiltern’s long-standing track record of delivering high quality and responsive services.”

Penn Pharma plans to expand its reach in theUS after opening a new contained manufacturing facility inWales,UK.

As part of the plans, the contract manufacturing organisation (CMO) has named Carlo Truppi its newUS business development manager. In his new role, Truppi will drive business forUS firms looking to work inEurope.

Previously he worked for Bilcare Global Clinical Supplies.

CEO Richard Yarwood said: “Carlo is going to play a pivotal role in finding business for our recently constructed Contained Manufacturing Operation, which is due to open in Q1 2013. His broad experience in the industry will be invaluable to us as we grow our capability in processing highly potent drug products.’’

Thermo Fisher Scientific has appointed Klaus Lindpaintner and Edison Liu onto its scientific advisory board.

Lindpainter becomes a member of the board after recently joining the fir, as chief scientific officer for analytical technologies. Liu is also president and CEO of The Jackson Laboratory.

Cedarburg Hauser Pharmaceuticals (CHP) has awarded John Lynch the role of chief scientific officer.

Formerly the company’s director of research and development (R&D), Lynch used to work for Abbott Laboratories.

He will now oversee all scientific operations including the process development, R&D and analytical groups.

Tony Laughrey, CEO, said: "In his time at Cedarburg Hauser, John has successfully led Cedarburg Hauser's research and development efforts and is the ideal person to head-up the company's scientific operations."

AbelsonTaylor has added two new members to its copywriting team in Larry Koplow and Ann Titus.

Previously a key digital, print and broadcast writer for the health care advertising company, Koplow will now become an associate creative director, copy digital. Titus will become senior copywriter.
